For appointment to this position, a candidate must: be a citizen of Kenya; hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya; be a retired senior intelligence officer with a distinguished career in the field; and meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. The salary and benefits for these positions shall be determined by the Cabinet Secretary on the advice of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission; and The Chairperson and Members of the Board shall hold office for a period of three years but shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further term.
